Light

I sat in your darkness
for so long-
I nearly lost my light.
I became a shell,
empty and hallow,
of the woman I once was.
Motherhood and curses transformed me.
And with my newfound self,
I realized I shone -
too brightly to stay.
Constant critiques, false accusations,
input ignored, belittled thoughts.
Fear delivered, trust eroded-
Who had I become?
But when I dug, I found her.
She is enough.
She is me.
